We will be exploring why we believe what we believe in order to become more tolerant, understanding, and less frustrated about other people's beliefs which may not coincide with our own. This Interest Group is not about convincing anyone about who is right or wrong, but gaining knowledge about how beliefs emerge and develop from the neural activities of the brain. Such knowledge will, hopefully, lead us to a less stressful and more enjoyable life.

We will be reading and then discussing relevant books in the areas of neuroscience, psychology, probability, and logic beginning with the book titled "Why We Believe What We Believe" by Andrew Newberg, MD.

This group will be meeting on the first Thursday of each month from 1:30 to 3:30 on Ponderosa Dr., Santa Cruz. There is plenty of on-street parking, but then a steep climb up the concrete driveway. Contact Charles Rolander, crolander@comcast.net, if you are interested.
